Colourful Peru and Inca Trail 13d/12n

Travelling as a family can be a great opportunity to spend quality time together away from hectic schedules that tie up our everyday lives. It can provide children with unbelievable, "hands on" learning experiences and inspire young minds to understand, respect, and appreciate other cultures and environments. However, travelling as a family is not without its hazards and can create added challenges for the safety, health, and enjoyment of everyone involved.

With this in mind, we have created a family suggestion sheet to help you make the most out of your experience abroad. Below are some general tips that apply to any of our adventures and some tour-by tour comments to help you decide if a specific trip is right for your family. Route: Lima/Cuzco/inca trail/Puno/Lima
Duratión: 13d/12n

Day 1: Lima B,L

Upon arrival you will be transferred to the hotel. In the afternoon, you will begin the colonial city tour in the center of Lima. Here you will visit the Cathedral, the Saint Francis Convent and the catacombs. You will also visit the residential zones of Miraflores and San Isidro and the nearby beaches on the shores of the Pacific Ocean

Day 2: Lima –Cusco B,L

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take the flight Lima/Cusco. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. You will have time to rest so you relax and acclimatize to the altitude. In the afternoon there will be a city tour around Cusco. Here you will visit the Koricancha temple, the cathedral and the ruins close to Cusco such as Saqsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay

Day 3: cusco sacred valley B,L

Breakfast time. Transfer to the Sacred Valley at the town of Pisac, where we will visit the indigenous market. Then we continue our travel alongside the Urubamba River known as the sacred river, to Calca, a little colonial town, and then to Yucay where we can observe the "Andeneria Inca". Lunch time in a typical restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit OLLANTAYTAMBO, the town, sanctuaries and fortifications. This is the unique Inca town, which is still inhabited. During our route to Cusco we will go to the town of Chinchero, where we can visit the ruins where the Incas used to have their sacred rituals. Then back to Cusco

Day 4. - cusco - qente B,L,D

We transfer you from the hotel to km 82 in order to take the bus that brings us to the Km 82. From here cross the small bridge over to Qente where we will camp. A chance to visit the surrounding archaeological remains of Wayna Qente and Machu Qente - located amidst Inca Terracing. Distance: 11 kms).

Day 5: Qente - Llulluchapampa B,L,D

The trail winds slowly uphill through a small forest to reach the site of Patallacta. After a short visit we continue up the Cusichaca Valley passing houses of settlers to finally reach the Andean community of wayllabamba. From here the trail ascends steeply to a large pampa below the first pass, where we camp. Here we have a breathtaking view of Mt. Huayanay. Along the trail up this narrow hanging valley we begin to see a cloud forest that harbours the Queñua tree (polilepis), a rare forest to be found in the Andes. Camp overnight at Llulluchapampa. . Distance: 9Kms).

Day 6: Llulluchapampa / Phuyupatamarca B,L,D A

steady ascent on an Inca Trail up to the Warmiwañusqa pass at 4,200m (13,692 ft) affords a magnificent view of our ascent and the trail ahead of us. We descend on a reconstructed Inca Trail down to the Pacaymayo River to then ascend again to the ruins of Runkuraqay and the second pass at 4,050m (13,200 ft). From here we walk down to the site at Sayacmarca at 3,850m (12,551 ft) on the original Inca Trail, passing a dry lake and the first signs of the cloud forest.

A beautiful location overlooking the Aobamba Valley, it affords a respite for a leisurely walk through its imposing structures. Continue along the ridge through amazing landscapes, viewing Mt. Salkantay from the western side and Mt. Pumasillo, a silhouette to the north on the horizon. Walking through a rolling flag stoned trail we arrive at Phuyupatamarca (the village on the edge of the clouds) in whose vicinity we camp. , Distance 14kms)

Day 7: Phuyupatamarca / Machu Picchu B,L,D

An early departure today will have us trekking along a buttress and passing Phuyupatamarca ruins, the flag stoned trail winds sharply down into the cloud forest to the ruins of Wiñay Wayna located below the ridge on the same water course as the previous site, it has well restored Inca Ruins. After a two hour walk through a cloud forest covered Inca Trail we arrive at Machu Picchu the way the Incas used to come, watching the magnificent citadel at our feet from Intipunku, the door of the sun. Overnight.

Day 8: Machu Picchu / Cusco

The whole day can be dedicated to explore these extraordinary Inca remains, including a visit to Wayna Picchu, the hill overlooking the site. The mid-afternoon train takes you back to Cusco, transfer to your hotel, lunch and dinner on your own.

Day 9: cusco - puno breakfast.

Early in the morning we will take a touristic bus Cusco/Puno. On the route, we will stop in different ruins such as Raqchi, Andahuaylillas, and Pikillakta. Lunch in a typical restaurant.

Day 10: puno - uros, amantani, aisland

Early morning we will pick you up from your Hotel, and then we will transfer you to the port at 8:20am to take the boat to Urcos Island, after enjoying this amazing place we will continue to the Amantani Island which is very important for its environmental and ethnics values. We will enjoy our lunch here where you will get settle in the houses of the local people. The tour from the island will be all over, visiting the (pacha papa and pacha mama) we will have dinner and we will stay overnight here. Family house.

Day 11.- Amantani - taquile - puno

After a nice Andean breakfast in your host family's home, we will take the boat toward Taquile Island which is an amazing and unique island from that region, in terms of landscape and the ethnic's way of the local people who still abide by their traditional, ancestral costumes. Being there you will go back many centuries ago, the local people will offer you lodging and food in their houses, after lunch we will return to Puno all the way by boat.

Day 12: puno - juliaca - lima

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take juliaca to flight to Lima. In the afternoon, you will visit the gold museum, place where you will find a collection of beautiful gold pieces belonging to the pre-Columbian cultures. (Optional: If you want to continue your trip to Arequipa, you can be transferred to the bus station in Puno to take the bus Puno/Arequipa. Ask for extensions to Arequipa .contact us)

Day 13: Breakfast.

At appointed hour, you will be transferred to the airport.
