Itinerary
Day 1 .- Lima
Our adventure begins in Peru's cultural and financial hub. Enjoy a
guided walk through the city and take the time to pay tribute to
Lima's founder, Francisco Pizarro, at his tomb in La Catedral.
Day 2 .- Pisco
Head down the coast to Pisco, famous for its eponymous cocktail, the
pisco sour. The following morning there is an optional visit to the
Ballestas Islands to get up close to the resident sea lions and
penguins.
Days 3 .- Ica
Days 4 .- Nazca
The best way to appreciate the incredible Nazca Lines is from the air.
Take an optional flight over the desert to see the enormous animals
and symbols etched into the Nazca Desert.
Day 5 .- Arequipa
Standing at the foot of the snow-capped El Misti volcano, Arequipa's
architecture is as beautiful as its surroundings. Explore the
whitewashed Spanish colonial buildings that give the city its nickname
- the White City.
Days 6 / 7 .- Colca canyon
Spend time acclimatizing in hot thermal baths before taking short
hikes around one of the deepest canyons in the world. Keep an eye out
for the majestic condor.
Days 8 .- Arequipa - Puno
Days -09/10 Puno/Lake Titicaca
Take a boat across the seemingly infinite waters of Lake Titicaca.
Stop off at the floating reed islands of the Uros people then be
immersed in the rural life and traditions of the Peruvian highlands at
an overnight home stay.
Days 11 .- Puno - Cusco
Days 12 .- Cusco city tour around Cusco
This beautiful town was considered the navel of the Inca Empire and
has a fascinating mix of colonial buildings and Inca foundations.
Visit qoricancha, once the Inca sun temple and now incorporated into a
Spanish church.
Days 13/16 .- Inca trail
Retrace the steps of the Incas on a trek to the awe-inspiring 'lost
city' of Machu Picchu. Enjoy the lush mountain scenery and trek over
passes, through forests and past waterfalls, villages and ancient
ruins. This is one of the highlights of any journey through Peru.
Day 17 .- Cuzco
Enjoy the tour to the sacred valley of the Incas and see the Inca
baths at ollantaytambo and the Andean market from pisaq.
Days 18/21 .- Amazon jungle
Travel from the high Andes to the lowlands of the Amazon jungle.
Explore a region of incredible biodiversity and spot colorful birds,
multi-colored orchids and maybe even a jaguar!
Days 21 .- Lima
Return to the City of the Kings for some more sightseeing, a delicious
bowl of ceviche and a final pisco sour.
